I just want to make sure that I don't or do tighten the bolts tight enough. I don't have a torque wrench but I will figure it out. Here is a cheap torque wrench. Pretty accurate and in inch/pounds, which is what you will need for those particular bolts. Harbor Freight 1/4" TR |

Before I do my DD when you add the extra spring do you still torque the 6 bolts up to the original torque settings or a little under because of two springs in place

The same as when new. Torqueing is to stretch the bolts enough that they don't back out. With 2 discs you want them tight.

Dannie criss cross when you tighten the bolts so it lines up even and when you get all the case bolts out you might need a rubber
mallet to give it a gentle tap and hold the case well when you bust it loose sometimes the gasket will stick on both mating surfaces so be careful because they are reusable many times over and you dont need any goop they seal up good , when you tighten the case bolts do the criss cross , oh and you can do this on the side stand i usually put a piece of 1/2 in plywood under the front tire and gently lean it on the side stand no oil will leak out that way and it gives you a good work angle. Would be a good idea to invest in a set of 1/4 drive metric allens and a couple extensions they make straight ones and ball end it's nice to have both along with a nice ratchet Harbor freight makes one that is composite and less likely to do damage to the paint if you slip or drop it and make sure the allen bit is fully seated before you bust it loose I have boogered up a few by not doing that. Good luck that will be your Mod the ice breaker for many more and a good confidence builder |
