TOPIC: Gaz consumption and RPM
Gaz consumption and RPM 11 months 3 weeks ago #1

I use the Gen2 mainly for daily commuting. I live about 10 kilos from the town so I will say that I do about 50/50 in town/road riding.
I not really pushing the bike on the highway (crusing at 100-120 km/h) but in town I leave black stripes everywhere (fun ! isn't it ?). Riding in those condition I have to gaz every 80-85 Km when ''the reserve'' kicks in. I ride the bike at about 4000-5000 RPM in 3th and 4ft gear on the highway to acheive the said speed of 120 km/h. This is under the torque curve. I'm writing today to have your opinions about gaz consumption if I ride the bike at higher rev 7000-8000 RPM in second gear instead. The bike is snappier at those rev. I will it kill the tank at 2 times the speed ? How hard do you cruise the bike ? Thanks Mush |

Yes you will cut mileage in half! The V4 does it's work down low and cruising in 5th gear at 2700 rpm will improve your mileage.

Yes, as no_max stated.....less cruising RPM = better mileage. That is also the beauty of the big V4! I can run from 25 to ??? in 5th gear and never load up the engine.
