TOPIC: ¿ which bike fit in the R ECU ?

Ok, you've opened up the exhaust, and a Race ECU will extend your rpm range, but doing the airbox mod will also help. Tim's reflash IS available for stock configuration, as well as a few others.

Here's a previous thread that deals with the Race ECU vs Standard ECU. The Nash flash from what I have read will help a whole lot. Owning a Race ECU it does a whole lot also. Yamaha won't say much, but think about this. The stock ECU is stepped on (holding the power back) the Race ECU allows everything to flow. Performance is improved. We can debate which is better, either works much better IMO than the stock ECU. Good luck on what you decide. Here's the link to another thread from way back when the Max was first released. www.starvmax.com/forum/technical-vmax/32...-ecu-vs-standard-ecu

you do not have the most absolute idea of the function of the EXUP!!!!!

I have both ECU's still and I can say with out a doubt the bike did run better. If you read the post from 3 years ago, one of the posters mentioned he had two Vmax's (Vmaxi) one with stock ECU and other with the race ECU. He too noticed the improvement. When I spoke to Yamaha about this all they say is it eliminates the limits put on speed and RPM. But use some logic. If the stock ECU is being restricted, what happens when the restirction is removed? More power period. Not saying Nash is not the way to go, I just choose the Yamaha ECU, others go with Tim's flash. Either way is better than stock. |

Yamaha V MAX EXUP VALVE: that constantly adjusts the internal diameter of the exhaust system to better suit engine speed. At low engine speeds the wave pressure within the pipe network is low. A full oscillation of the Helmholtz resonance occurs before the exhaust valve is closed, and to increase low-speed torque, large-amplitude exhaust pressure waves are artificially induced. This is achieved by partial closing of an internal butterfly valve within the exhaust at the point where the four primary pipes from the cylinders join. This junction point essentially behaves as an artificial atmosphere. The alteration of the pressure at this point controls the behavior of reflected waves at this sudden increase in area discontinuity. Closing the valve increases the local pressure, inducing the formation of larger-amplitude negative reflected expansion waves. A servo motor controlled by the ECU opens and shuts the valve.[1] The valve goes from being almost fully closed at idle speed, through to fully open at higher engine speeds. This ensures superior low to mid-range performance, more linear power output and reduced exhaust noise levels while the valve is in its reduced opening position.............should not be removed!!!

I know all about them.....and how they can help an engine make TQ in the lower/mid RPM range. I also know that some testing was done that proved it provides NO performance benefits on the VMax. It was used primarily IMO, for sound reduction to meet noise standards. |
