I’ve been thinking about buying a vmax for a few years. I really like the red color on the 2010 but I’m not sure it makes too much sense to buy a two year old bike just for the red color. I’ve found a handful of new 2010s still sitting on show room floors. Has there been many changes or improvements with the 2011 and 2012? I guess a new 2010 would still have the full warranty but it would have less resale value down the road. Any comments or opinions would be appreciated.

I say go for the color you want, especially if it can be bought new with warrenty. I don't think that there have been any changes in the Vmax from 2009 to present. Older year models may have a lower resale value than a current year model, but if an older model is still on the showroom floor, new, you'll get a discount when you buy it.

Gen 2's('09 to present) have NO internal changes.....just minor cosmetics--like color and side panel finish. So, just buy YOUR color.

Get a BLACK 09, The fastest ones.

Like doc said no changes to the Gen 2 since 09 except colour, 09- black(with a hint of red flake in the sun), 2010 metallic red, 2011 metalic graphite grey, and 2012 matte black and side plates have a shinier finish. Yes a 2010 will have lower resale value then a 2012 but it will also be cheaper to buy and if it is a left over model new on the floor you will still get the full warrenty from your purchase date. All the benefits and really no downfalls so get the colour you want, besides you will want to keep this beast because once you ride MAX there is no going back !

Sorry new policy. make sure you read that fine print before joining this forum. Too many guys have decided to get rid of their max for not-so legitimate reasons.

Buy what you like, not what you think someone else will like in a few years. You will forget what you paid for it, but sure remember if you made the right choice or not.

Or just get one of each.

Both are fast!




But Black ones are faster for sure!!
