TOPIC: 500 miles, my '12 is home but it wasn't pretty

Thank you everyone for the kind comments! I definitely will think twice about crossing the I-80 Wyoming corridor.

The cross wind speeds were guesses but I think having 673 lbs under me helped also :)

SAFE!!!!! Good show dude. You've made it through (accelerated)Max boot camp. Glad your safe. Now that cold one, and two, and three and just admire how fast that beast goes just sitting there!!!

Let your Max Times roll brother. :yeah:

Thank you Doc! Trial by fire :) after riding mostly bullet bikes I'd say the wonderful Vmax's riding position was very helpful. What a graceful ride.

Quite an adventure! Glad you are home safe.

You wonder if with all the cross winds, whether the fairing helped or hurt you. :hmmm:

Not on the cross winds but overall it was very beneficial!

What a trip mate! and what a story.

I just woke up to your story and was reading it on my iPad like a good book
I certainly felt like I could feel the winds and your adventure with you. Thanks for sharing.

It certainly isn't the best of first rides and I am sure took away a lot from your enjoyment
Which is why some guys chose to drive down with their pickups and get the bike home safe

But with that behind you I still think you have to have your maiden ride.
Wait for a nice day, have a good break to refresh yourself and then take her out again
The experience will feel different again.

Now this story is what I call a dedication to your ride! Not many would go through what you went through for just any bike. Well done

Glad ya made it Home safely! Don't really like windy riding but sometimes it is unavoidable...and yea, the semi's really make it worse!! :steam:

Enjoy the new 'max now under hopefully better conditions!

Sounds like a rough ride, but any ride on a vmax is good. How do you like that windshield. I thought about getting one of those.

Thank you for the very kind and gracious comments.

On a side note I have been to Oz 3 times. Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane. I met "Heidi" in Brisbane and she was incredible. She gave me a life time memory that was far better one than the cross wind tunnel. :)

I took delivery of my Vmax with it installed. So I can't give you the completely subjective opinion as this is the first "naked" bike I have ridden. But I believe it made a significantly positive impact on the ride home.

No stranger to crosswinds down here in Texas, but sounds like you did the crosswind marathon.

Glad you made it home safely.....enjoy your '012.....I've got the same, love that flat black!
