TOPIC: Take off Tips

Re: Take off Tips 11 months 1 week ago #21

Well fellows guys and gals, I went to the track last night and I hate to say it but it was bad, really bad. My 60' was killin me all night. I hate to even tell you what it was. 1.97--60ft. How much worst can it get. This is the 1/8 mile, 7.2sec, at a 106mph. This was the best. If I drop the bike will it still spin as much.
What tire pressure should I run, or what is a good pressure. What is a good rpm I was leaving at around 3500, or should I leave at around 5gran,

Thanks

Don`t let it worry you Dannie, we all had our first drags that started off slow. There is a lot of mind control actions that happen, that just take practice and repitition to get it right.
Have a look at Dale Walkers launching tecknique on:

It may not be for everyone but he is a very good rider and has some very interesting points on how to handle the VMAX.
Keep all your time sheets in chronicle order and you will gradually see a pattern emerge which will show you where you need improvement. Keep each day seperate and stapled together. Also add any comments on the page after each run. It is good to look back and see your improvements over a wider time frame.
