TOPIC: Pillion options...

Pillion options... 1 year 1 week ago #1

Hi Folks,
How effective is the tiny low profile Yamaha oem pillion seat back? It's a hefty $350 for just a little support, but is it enough? This is the most appealing option as it fits so well with the lines of the bike.... But from pictures, it doesn't look like it would do much.

I'm debating between that and the Corbin. Any others I should look at?

I don't have one, but I think the Corbin is a nice solution. The passenger backrest is removable.....so you don't have to have it on when you are riding solo.

These guys also make backrests that fit the Corbin.

Don't buy the studded one.....it's gay.

I too made an extended bracket for the cushion to be more functional keeping the passenger on the bike. Really the bulk of that price is for the trim that holds the bracket for the small cushion. The luggage rack also mounts to this same trim. Its pretty simple to make up an extension once you have the bracket and I think there is also a member who fabricated one as well and may still be selling them. I have many pics of what I did with mine. Its actually completely wrapped in carbon fiber, cause thats what my bike is all about. For you there is the option of the black trim to match your matte black. However I am terrible on my Macbook and I still cannot figure out how to get a photo on this site from my library. Sorry
