I cannot recommend Bob's tank enough, I love it so much that I have left it on there permanently. I love the convenience. The other day I got 235km's out of it...simply awesome.

Rode cross country with the AUXBOB installed, the Capt's tank is the way to go.....simple and effective, easy to use, reduces the number of stops on a long haul.

Not a cheap option but.... www.optimalcarbone.com/reservoir-vmax-21-24l.html This one was on special offer last month with 25% off ...i was tempted myself but for the amount of miles i do i could not justify buying it,i bought a satnav instead so that i can map out the petrol stations enroute |

Again, thanks for all your insight...Ive decided to not get rid of the vmax for an fjr, i dont think i could take it psychologically.
Ive gone ahead and booked an order with Capt Bob, seeing as the general vibe is they are the best!. As soon as i get it i shall post some pics up for you guys, and of course, some pics of the trip.... maybe my vmax will be the first through the artic circle?... Thanks again everyone!. |

This looks excellent, purpose built. This feeds directly to the main tank? Easy enough to install the fuel line to main tank? I just drilled a hole in the seat pan & ran the line to the vent nipple on the top of the stock gas tank. Bob will explain it's gravity fed. Your gas gauge won't move until the aux tank drains first. How do you plan on mounting the tank? Usually guys mount them to the oem touring rack |

Seems most folks are opting for the" inny " set up in a Cortech tail bag , for those I weld a vent bung with a dedicated line routed outside the bag.
Most just route the fuel line under the tank flap seat thingie |

I think i will source a tail pack that will fit the tank, but also has some extra pockets for various bits. Ive seen a renntec rack that i might get, www.renntec.co.uk/yamaha_v_max_sports_rack_carrier
....get rid of the sissy bar to optimise carrying capacity. Id like to fit the tank on that rack alone,(in a tail pack) use the pillion seat as more luggage space, and some panniers. Id like some hard panniers and a top box ideally but cannot find anyone that manufactures them. So i guess its just a case of fill the main tank, then the aux tank.... How many extra miles on average will i get?. |
