TOPIC: Bad luck...

Bad luck... 10 months 4 weeks ago #1

Bad luck today… I went to pull Max out of the garage today and it was very hard to back up. It was as if a brake was dragging really bad. Yesterday it seemed to not roll out of the garage as easy as usual too so checked the brake pads on the rear as I had just changed them a week before but they seemed fine so put them back together and went for a ride. Today I discovered what it was… the rear tire that is only about a month old had no air left in it. My neighbor had their roof shingled a few weeks ago and I found there was a nail just about center of the tire. I wondered around my driveway and the neighbor’s driveway and found about 13 more nails. We had heavy rain a few days ago and I think it washed out some nails and because our driveways are attached they came over and I must have backed over one with Max when turning it around.

So what should I do… can I plug the tire or have a patch put on the inside as it is right in the center?

Does anyone know if roofing companies have any insurance for this type of thing happening?

Not sure about an insurance claim? :hmmm:
But I could suggest saving all the nails and throw one on your neighbors drive once per week. :needles:

I think the Insurance Company of the Roofing Company should cover this, might not go through but it doesn't hurt to put up a Claim. You have the Nails to prove your Case, all you found plus the one in your Tire.

Too bad about the tire. Try it and if your neighbour has proper insurance he might even help you file the claim.

Anyway, don't plug the tire, replace it. Just better be safe than sorry. Especially for a few lousy bucks.

A patch on the inside works well and is less likely to leak than the plug type repair. I did just that with the Metzeler I bought off Butch09 where a rock or something had gone thru it, It never leaked at all and wasn't out of balance when flat out. I ended its life in the burnout comp at our local bike rally :cigar: Just post up the video of when you burn off the tire for us. :steam:

My mother and I discussed this an she said your neighbor should utlimately be responsible for your tire. Hit him up. Hope you're on good terms. (may not be afterwards :silly: )
