Foot wear is as important as anything you wear when riding. My wife's nephew was out riding this last month. Pulled over to watch a few auto's drag race. He was hit while sitting on his ride by one of the cars. He was wearing full gear, helmet and all, one thing he didn't wear were his boots. He had on tennis shoes. His right foot got caught under the bike as he was dragged. Now 5 surgeries in the last 3 weeks, almost taking his foot off, lossing the big toe so far, even foot wear is important. Never

The Icon Tarmac shoes that Mark showed is what I wear and I am on my second pair. They are the lightest of my four pairs of riding boots. They also come in white (which is what I just purchased) so your feet don't cook so much. Although they are not waterproof they are ten times better protection than sandals which I would imagine are not waterproof either. If you decide to make a purchase on them I suggest at least a size to a size and half bigger than what you would normally wear as they run small. I ride in Manhattan ever day never without jacket, gloves, Sliders All Season Pants (silver) and boots. ALWAYS

People here in Hawaii wear flip flops to do every thing! Night club -flip flops, basketball -flip flops, and yes even riding! You see bikers in shorts and flip flops everywhere...The HD guys, the sports bike guys... It's ridiculous to say the least and looks even more ridiculous!
Kila, you gotta Read your Manual, it's against the Manufactures Rules to ride a VMax with flip flops/sandals. It will ruin your bike and your image. |

My buddy "willie" got hit while leaving the park saturday at the Car show. Some doucbag backed into him and another vehicle.
I don't think he would have much of his foot left if he wasn't wearing his boots... they had to cut off his boot I'm guessing. got crushed pretty bad. Mike D C:\fakepath\2012-07-07_17-04-38_444.jpg |
