TOPIC: Side cover color

Side cover color 9 months 2 weeks ago #1

Has anyone figured out, or have any ideas on how to remove the dark finish on the side covers (see pic)? I assume it's anodized. I would like it to match the scoops and the backrest bracket.

It is stainless steel not alluminum....that's the main reason it looks different. It also has a brushed finish that scatters the light and makes it look darker. If you had it polished it could be as bright as you want it.

Brad was right. I used a little oven cleaner on the inside, after masking a small section off. Waited 3 minutes and the grey came right off. Had to hit it for another 3 minutes to make it perfect. I then polished it with aluminum polish, had it mirror shiny. Then scratched it with a green scotch brite pad, to give it a brushed look. I think its going to be a winter project.

I'll be danged!

If it is aluminum :hmmm: you may want to consider clear coating it to keep the maintenance down. I think they will look good.
