We all know the Max is a little on the heavy side but has anyone actually taken the time to see how many pounds can be shed?
Example replace the exhaust system with brocks 4-1 Bst rims Big air Number plate kit Carbon body kit Anyone know? |

You know... most of the "bit & pieces" are actually pretty light except for the catalytic converter. The biggest contributor to the overall weight by far is the shaft drive components. Take all that stuff off and you'd be much closer to the weight of a Busa or 14. Unfortunately it's very expensive an difficult to remove. With the stuff you list above you can knock off 30 lbs....maybe... with the biggest loss being in the exhaust system then the wheels. Big air probably weighs the same...carbon body pieces maybe 6 - 7 lbs., the plate thingy and signals, a pound maybe. |

Thanks for the reply but what I'm really trying to ask is what are the exact numbers, not estimates

Capt Bob has a lot of light parts but he's got few that add weight as well. Q-tip weighed his bike and it was 660. BST wheels and the CF parts maybe another 15 less so 645 best case. A Busa is around 585. Again it's mostly in the shaft drive. |

When you start taking parts off you see that most everything is light.....fenders, fake tank, seat, foot pegs, mufflers all the pieces.
The cat conv is a boat anchor. Then pull the rear pumpkin off and hold it in your hands.... HEAVY! And the rear wheel is also heavier because of the shaft components. |

I just got rid of the factory cat and know it weighs exactly 20lbs...
Other than that, the rest is very minimal... |

I don't think I would ever want one.....but just saying..... if someone came out with a chain drive conversion that was "affordable" just add a pipe and a flash and a guy like Jay Gleason is in the 8's on a Max. I'd put money on it. |
