Has anyone heard of the final number on how many got sold out of the 2500? Could a dealer call in somewhere to corporate world and find out? Anyway sure been curious about it, then we'll know how rare this beast really will be and how few will be on the road. thanks...

That's a great question and I have been kind of tracking things here and on the general web...and at first, I got the impression that the number was way lower than 2,500 units...more like 1,500...but recently, I've been seeing more and more dealerships in the lower 48 that all of sudden have 2, 3, 4, 5 and even 10 brand new units "in-stock"!!!...now, you have to ask yourself...did they order during the Jun-Oct pre-order period or did Yamaha, all of sudden have to "dump" some extra somewhere and gave those out with no $1,000 down??? The one dealership here in North San Diego that had 5 units a few days ago wouldn't tell me over the phone...but I got "silence" for 4-5 seconds, so I think NOT... So anyway, I think the final figures MAY be up towards that maybe not 2,500 but maybe 2,000 mark...would be nice to have some "insider" info for "planning" purposes...may need a larger garage... |

Hope this helps. Cheers |

Let's see...that 2,500 minus 1,670 equals 830 times $7,196 ($17,990 * 40%) equals $5,972,680 less...ummm...yep...Yamaha definitely has a few less employees now...is Jeff's future secure???... |

That came from Jeff he`s the guy that did the marketing & research for the 09 vmax . Chuck That's the final number I heard also, which would mean Yamaha sold 2/3 of the bikes and got deposits and payoff for the first 2/3 of the allotment. Not too shabby & I'm fairly certain Yamaha had a contigency program, whereby the other 800 (1/3) would be made available to dealers. That's my theory anyways. I got a sneaking feeling the other day at my dealers when they tried to sell me the Vmax bags. One of them let it slip "We'll just save them for the next Vmax we get in". I being all knowing on my perceived "high horse" was quick to retort "come on guys, you know there won't be any more 09 Vmaxs coming." That only makes sense. Yamaha has a few hundred to move. They can't rebadge as a 2010. The last 800 will keep the market going with no glut & maintain resale, till the 2010 gets here. Our escapades on the street & on these websites will surely generate another 800 sales. Not bad Yamaha, smart & accurately predicted. For such a screwed up economy, they nailed it. |

It's probably best not to assume that every $1,000 deposit was converted into a sale. I'm interested to know the percentage of customers who put in a deposit that actually followed through.

I bet the percentage who followed through is pretty high. $1000 bucks is pretty tough to give up as is the new max.
I wonder if Yamaha made all 2500 and is going to send them out as floor stock. |

The max number of orders that Yamaha would accept is 2500 They only built what was sold. That is why the deposit was placed.
Build to order. |
