TOPIC: Exhaust options?
Exhaust options? 1 year, 10 months ago #1

I am a newbie and have been sifting through the vast data base here. I just purchased an 09 VMAX and want to upgrade the exhaust. What is the best bang for the buck, proven system available or is there something better in the works coming very soon. I had a Kerker 4 into 1 system on my 96 max and loved the exhaust tone with competition baffle....Thanks in advance for the info-great site!

As far as the best bang for the buck I do no think anyone would despute the x-pipe that member Mike(blueta71) make's. You can mount it right in place of your stoch cat and run with your stock muffers or with whateever after-market muffler with a 1 3/4" inlet you want the only problem with his cat eliminator is do not expect to get one soon because he is very busy and has taken alot of orders. There is also the akro system, ufo, and a couple of others. Most of us hear would not reccomend the UFO system because you loose alot of ground clearence on the right side, so if you ride hard and like to drag your knee stay away from this system. There are more coming in the near future, like a equal length header 4-2-4 system that Quinten(BNR) has show on this site earler. It is not a full system, it replaces your cat with a set of headers for the rear cylinders that are eqaul length to your front header for better flow, you do not lose any ground clearence and also can run with your stock mufflers, possibly soon to be in prodution. Hindle is also currently in the process of making a system for the Gen 2 MAX, if you visit there site you can see on there product list- coming soon!
Hope it helps. I am sure I missed a few thing and you should alot from other members of the site! vmaxmercer |

More are expected to be coming soon Hindle and Brocks are working on something slip on and full ststem. Vance Hines has prototype slip on possible production little unclear on this one though.Akrapovic has mid pipe that will accept stock canisters with modificatoin or their slipons these are aviable mid pipe 700.00 and cans 1200.00 There is also Mike and hand fabricated x-pipe (I use) wait time to build he has a regular job also so time is necessary. Exactrep also has copy of the Akro mid pipe in stainless little cheaper.
Of course there is also UFO I dont have one but the common complaint is poor fitment lousy canister material that falls apart and oh yea pipes that can drag the ground and wear holes in them. Your choice hope it helps mine is X-pipe and Scorpion CF canisters. |

I waited 8 months from my first email. Well worth it. And I'm real patient when it comes to getting something good.

He is under so much work pressure he is not getting any time to himself let alone making X pipes. I would imagine that all this last batch are already spoken for but hopefully Mike will chime in and correct me if I'm wrong. |

It is made from titanium and the mid pipe only weights in at 1.5 lbs. You can pick just the mid pipe or get their full setup. It's a bit pricy but currently the best quality of all of them. Hope this helps! |

This is a pick of the header set-up that Quiten(BNR) is currently developing for the MAX. It replaces the cat, gives you eqaul lenght headers and you do not loose any ground clearence. It currently just a prototype but I am hoping it will go into production. It works with your stock or aftermarket mufflers, if it gets into production should make great power!
