I thought this might be interesting for fellow Vmaxer so I am creating a separate thread for this (original in my “trip to AZ” thread)
My recorded gas mileage on this 1,500 + miles trip is 33 MPG (7.13 liters /100 km) (normally around 25 MPG or 9.41 liters/100 km) This is much more accurate than an attempt at measuring on just 1 tank. However, it will not give good info on how the bike performs at a particular speed since it is an average of very different conditions (long stretches of freeway + small winding roads). I also recorded the (less accurate for reasons mentioned above) mileage on each tank and (for this trip) it varied from 24 MPG / 9.80 liters per 100 km (lowest) to 40 MPG / 5.88 liters per 100 km(highest). If interested in more details and comparison with the Vrod which was travelling with me (ie same speed, same road, same mileage), go to this thread : www.starvmax.com/forum/11-vmax-pics-and-...0&start=20#84212 |

This has all been discussed before but feel free to post your own findings re MPG.
(I remember reading a most interesting thread by FXSTEIN on some attempt to get the lowest mileage possible but can't seem to find it). What was the result? I am sure at the opposite end of the spectrum we have many people lining up to fight for the dubious title of highest gas consumption |

Good info to know...and not bad touring mileage(for Max)..so i'm assuming you didn't have to sweat that yellow reserve light in between gas stations?

Used 4.5 gals at Bradenton Dragstrip, only covered 12 miles there + 5 miles to the gas station.
There may have been a little bit left when i got to gas station, so about 4mpg. |

In contrast the very best milage I was able to squeeze out in the desert of Nevada during last years Grand Canyon round trip was 44.5mpg. That's some 55mph for about 160 miles. Talk about a boring ride...
Made it through though, without falling short of getting to the gas station. Don't want to be stranded next to Area 51 without gas. It gets lonely out there... |

Didnt you have a gas can with you Oliver? What would be the fun of that? No - went hard core on a 160 mile trip between the closest two gas stations - and made it! It's those little things in live that keep you going... lol |
