Hey all, I should be recieving the Race ECU sometime today. I was wondering how many of ya (with Race ECU or Top Speed Eliminator installed) have "max'd" your Vmax on a top speed run? If so, what should I expect for top MPH #'s? Also, did you run out of RPM or did aerodynamics limit the top speed? Thanks in advance...Jetman.

You'll be limited by gearing and nothing else until you hit the limiter. Also in play is what tire you are running because obviously tire diameter will effect overall gearing. The hard limiter is at 10.5 K rpm I think?
I have hit 172 mph (on a closed course) more than once. Thanks to a Speedo Healer, that number is accurate to 1 mph. The Speedo Healer also lets you recall the last max speed, confirming what I saw on the speedometer.

WOW! That's higher than I was expecting, I was thinking 160-165 would be all it would be able to pull.

I have one of the prototype topspeed fixes installed. Mine seems to have a mind of its own at times, and tends to bounce around abit. The odo said 86... 2 up. Now what that means is anyones guess...

ya the ONLY thing that holds this engine back is the gearing and thats it..

With you on the have know idea what the speed fix is reading..

170mph iz what i've hit w an OEM size metzler(with race ecu only)

86mph top speed fix..... so times it by 2...172mph.

It's limited by final drive gearing....so 200mph is certainly doable with a new gear set. BUT the new gear set would be a very expensive project. Someone will someday pop a chain and sprockets on one...then all H$%# will break loose!

I find it VERY IMPRESSIVE that a VMax can run that fast NAKED! Hanging on becomes critical on the VMax at those speeds with no fairing. Tuck it in, keep a low profile, become ONE WITH THE VMAX!

Record at Bonneville on a Gen 2 Vmax was set at 164 or 165 MPH ..I don't know if that was the 3 mile or 5 mile course.. They did set a record in that class .. The record was held by a goldwing..
