Well it was 3 & 1/2 weeks ago when I posted 'My FX Experience' I got to meet Oliver for the first time and we went to Bike Night ! That's where the 'Infamous Hot Dog Incident' inspired me to put on an Alter-Ego and Clone his Max ! Well It's hard to believe that in 4 weeks, I've just about (less 240 kit) accomplished it ! Yesterday I took the 'Alter-2009' to FX's Dyno in San Jose ! My 2ND FX EXPERIENCE ! Got there around 10:00 and got started ! Without going into alot of detail, Oliver has an AWESOME setup there at San Jose Yamaha. His DynoJet 250 has some extras others don't have ! I must say his Dyno Shop is a Sweet Setup ! We first pulled the baffles out of the Akro's---Surprize to me, As I didn't know they had'em. Da ! I don't want to bore you with the details( even though they were a lot of the fun), So in a nut shell------- Oliver installed the Big Air and the Top Speed Eliminator. He spent at least 2 hours on the Dyno--Custom Mapping--He was Relentless--- You can only stand by, fingers in ears for so long ! When all was said and done, ??? I entered the ranks of the 200HP club !!!!! I have to say Art(CVVMAX) Had his bike setup very well ! It was a Beast in it's own right ! We ran a baseline Dyno and the bike pulled 187.51 w/120.64 and SAE was 192.47 w/123.83--Very Respectable ! After the Big Air Changes--The bike pulled 200.28 w/126.11 and SAE was 204.77 w/128.94---Magic Numbers ! Oliver did me a Real Solid ! I owe him ! We were through around 3:30 and then I got the Cherry On Top ! Got to follow Oliver home to pickup some of his Custom Black Monster Akro Tips ! Got to see his Beautiful House and awesome shop with the BADASS Turbo Warriors ! The Tips---Look Great ! As a matter of fact they look just as good on my Max as they do on his!--If you can tell Who's is Who's ? Mission almost complete and Worth all the Effort ! Couldn't have done it Without Art and Oliver, And of coarse the support of all my friends on this site ! THANKS TO ALL ! Mark |

Most shop dyno's don't have his Eddy current brake setup. It allows you to put a "load" on during the tune.

When you have temperatures reaching triple digit, It helps if you have some cool forced air blowing on the bike ! Oliver has 3 forced air blowers. The 2 on the sides he custom made ajustable mountings to direct air on the bike. They have long thin exhausts, like the kind in the car wash that dries your car. Now I don't know if other Dynos have blowers? As this is the first one I've seen in the flesh. However I believe Fx's is somewhat unique in this aspect. I'm sure Oliver will correct me if I'm wrong ! I didn't know that. Just thought they all did that as I watched that reading change up to 100% Braking many times. I know that there were 3 main screens he used during the process as I tried to see what he was doing-- Like I said You Can Only Stand There With Your Fingers In Your Ears For So Long !--Also not to condusive for a Question & Answer Session ! As a matter of fact after the Big Air was installed and Oliver ran the Dyno some more, he stopped and we installed it. Apparently he couldn't pull those numbers without it. On the gas-- He ran out the tank I came with--Pump Gas 91 , Added some more pump gas and then some P-12 ?? Anyways he wasn't real happy with it as it was almost a year old and looked Brown instead of purple. He said he wished we had fresh stuff and that we could have had better numbers with it. He also suggested that they-(the guys at the shop) throw that stuff out ! I guess it's 87 octane--Oxygenated gas that has a shelf life ? See-No Secrets--Just I'm not an expert, or pretend to be. Just trying to share my FX Experience ! Mark |
