It's not easy & best left to a shop with a tire machine (unless you're into sweat). A C clamp works.

Yep, C clamps or C clamp vise grips. With the bead that doesn't break, I used a pry bar, using the sharp end on the tire, near where it was sealed, beating it w/ a blammer on the other end. I poured a little soap n water in the seam to help it when it started to move. I went around the bead, moving it a pinch at a time. It will eventually turn loose. I then cut the tire off with a hack saw blade n bolt cutters.

It can be done, Last tire change I did it myself by laying the wheel on a length of conveyor belt rubber, put a 2x4" piece of timber on the tire close to the rim and stood on the timber (I am 100kg) then stamped on the timber, moved it around 6" and repeated process.
It didn't take too much of that to pop the bead. The worst thing is getting the tire off without marking/scratching the rim, I used some strips of nylon/plastic to cover the rim edge while prying the tyre off. Hope this helps. |

Just a helpful idea for all the do it yourself guys I learned this trick from mother earth news magazine from about 22 years ago, we used it for changeing all of are stock car tires and it poped the bead on the Vmax so easy and effortless you won,t believe until you give it a try. The ax pick head at most hardware stores will run you about 18.00 dollars, Here is a couple of picks.
