got a call from my dealer yesterday saying there has been a service recall on certain vin's for throttle and idle or wire problems...My vin is one of them anyone else heard this yet? talked with service and star has not released a fix as of yet..it effects idle staying at 3000 rpms and vin's 0013 thru the 0600's.

Not me! Must of got it right on mine.. Will see.

Wonder what they plan to do if they have a service recall but no fix?

THE BULLITEN READS AS FOLLOWS:

Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2009 VMAX (VMX17Y/YC) model motorcycles. In affected motorcycles, improper resistance in wiring could cause unstable engine idle speed and/or keep idle speed from falling below about 3000 rpm when the throttle is released, preventing a proper return to idle that could result in an accident with injury or death.

A Technical Bulletin with all necessary information will be provided in the near future.

Until then, please suspend sale of any new VMAX motorcycle in the following affected ranges:

VP29E-0000013-0000611

VMX17YC
VP29Y-0000033-0000132

As with all safety recall campaigns, Yamaha will be notifying all registered owners of affected units by mail.

Thanks guys.. This is good news to all of us that noticed these quirks. Sounds like Yamaha will be stepping up to correct it

0273 here, so I guess I'm ON the list for the recall. Wonder what happened that its not on all of them? Did they switch suppliers somewhere along the way on the harnesses?

I wonder if the Canadian models and any other outside the US will be included !

I was just down at the dealer and one of my buddies handed me the
"Intent to Recall" bulletin.

All I can say is Art's lucky number is 7 !

That's how many mine missed by ! Ended in 0132 and mine is 0139 !
