TOPIC: Need brighter shift light

Need brighter shift light 3 years 4 months ago #1

After installing & using AutoMeter & Harlan Sketchy shift lights on my other bikes, the shift light on the 2nd Gen Vmax is kind of dissapointing.
It's nice being able to go into the setup & adjust the brightness & rpm "on", but, even at full brightness, it's still not bright enough.
Yes, I can see it, but, on a normal sunny day, it' not a real "attention getter" like the other shift lights I've had.
You almost have to be looking at it to have it grab your attention.
Even that small AutoMeter "Quick Lite", has a very bright high-intensity LED, that will grab your attention out of your peripheral vision.
Anybody else thought the shift light needs a brighter LED???
Here is AutoMeter small QuickLite that I ran on my old Vmax & VTX

Suggest you get your eyes checked.

It's always been more than visible enough for me !

Either takes Jon's advise and strap on a yard light or use the Rev Limiter as a Back-Up !

Don't sweat it. Sometimes people get sensitive when you bring up a valid bitch about their beloved Vmax.

Forget the light & use the tac, that's what it's for.
I'm a papa too & I see the light & the tac fine.

TnVmax,

Thanks for verifying the possible problem.

Now that I'm comfortable with the advise I gave you, When are you going to SEE the eye doctor ?

Glad your still riding at your age, However it's dangerous to to ride with vision problems !

Please seek medical help, If not for you , But for others out on the road !
