From the VMax specs: Brakes / Front Dual 320mm wave-type discs; radial mount 6-piston calipers, Brembo® radial pump master cylinder Brakes / Rear 298mm wave-type disc, single-piston caliper and Brembo® master cylinder |

I'm not too fond about Beringer Calipers. I've no real Reason for this but i don't like them. I've heard some bad Stories, but some good also. From my Expirience, they don't feel well enough to me. There are two Rotor Dimensions out in the Market, 28 mm or 35 mm for Brake Ring/Grabbing Area of the Rotor. I'm not sure if Beringers cover the wider Brake Ring.
If i'd be in the Market for different Calipers, i'd go for ISR 6-pot radial Racing Calipers, similiar to those..... www.isrbrakes.se/products/calipers/22-042.shtml They don't show the radial Version of the Caliper on their Website, but i have seen them in the Catalogue. These are great Calipers and sport 6 individual Brake Pads for the 6 Pistons. Four Pistons are between the two Caliper Mounting Bolts (which is the Area the 6 Pots on the Stock Area cover) and two Pistons are outside of the Mounting Pattern. This gives a much bigger grabbing Area of the Caliper and thereby alone, improving the Feeling on the Lever and keep the Braking Process a little cooler. ISR might be hard to come by in your Country, but i could help you out with that. That said, the stock Calipers are Top-of-the-Line Parts from the Getgo, it's hard to achieve better Braking Performance with those as a starting Point. You could always improve the Look, just because since they changed the Design the "Bolts" the new Calipers look pretty much Plain Jane, whereas the Predecessor looked rather "Techie". Regarding the Rotors, you will improve Braking Perfomance with full- or semi-floating Rotors. |

Here are the pics I took after draining the brake and clutch fluid. I don't have calipers, so I've gotta figure something out to get them measured. Maybe I'll just stop at a machine shop on Monday. Other than changing brake pads, I've never messed with brakes before. This was definitely a day for the blooper reel.
Art, notice the O-ring on the right front bleeder? Hope that part came with yours. Shaun |

Okay, still waiting for a return email from Speed Bleeders on the measurements I sent them. So in the mean time, here are the measurements I took of all 4 bleeders. The final measurement is the overall legnth of the bleeder.
Front Brakes: Left: 7.84mm x 1.25 pitch x 26.78mm Right: 7.84mm x 1.25 pitch x 32.90mm Rear Brake 6.83mm x 1.0 pitch x 30.64mm Clutch 7.90mm x 1.25 pitch x 27.35mm I'm kind of worried about fit/matching the right front bleeder since the OEM has an o-ring? Shaun

I'm amazed that they are all different....I would never have guessed that in a millionn years. Thanks for determining that.
Wouldn't the o-ring just tranfer over to the speed-bleeder? Mark |

Hey Mark,
The right front bleeder has a slotted area for the o-ring to fit inside. I didn't want to risk pulling it out and damaging it, but you can see that area in Art's picture on page 2. Every other bleed screw you see with rubber looks like it will be fine. I'm not sure yet, but I think the matching bleeder for the front right is SB8125L. Shaun |

Talked to Whitney at Speed Bleeders:
Front Brakes: Left: 7.84mm x 1.25 pitch x 26.78mm Speed Bleeder part # SB8125 Right: 7.84mm x 1.25 pitch x 32.90mm Speed Bleeder part # SB8125L Rear Brake 6.83mm x 1.0 pitch x 30.64mm Speed Bleeder part # SB7100S Clutch 7.90mm x 1.25 pitch x 27.35mm Speed Bleeder part # SB8125 Whitney said that sealant would be fine in place of the OEM o-ring. The 2004-05 FJR uses the exact same OEM bleed valve as ours does and she said they've had no problems with the SB8124L. I'll do comparison shots when I receive the bleeders. Shaun |
