So guys what options are available out there for break/clutch line kits for the Gen II?
They all claim to be the best. What has everyone used here without getting into a war zone?

I heard a few names thrown around such as: Hell, Goodridge, Galfer, etc ....

I am sure each kit has its own pro/cons.
I'd like to get some black ones to blend with my bike
I would like my connections anodised black as well if possible

Also is it true that we shouldn't bother with rear brakes so much. I was told that when you have braided lines in the rear it is much easier to lockup your rear or engage ABS in our case and should leave rear stock and only replace front?

Thanks.

I went with the Yamaha Russell kit because I liked the way it looked. It comes with all the rubber pieces to fit in the stock holders. I'm not sure how it compares price wise with the other kits, but it's really not that expensive from a discount Yamaha dealer.
As far as the rear goes...I don't know how it could be easier to lock up than the stock setup...sucks IMO. The braided lines give you more feel and the ability to modulate the brake a little. It's still not great but it is better.

Just the one color. It's hard to see in the photo but it looks just like Carbon fiber.

I wish I had known about the Russell ones, they look great! We installed the Galfer, which are fine just not as nice of an install as yours.

Sorry Brett...I posted when I put them on last year. www.starvmax.com/forum/14-installed-vmax...-russell-lines#81173

I think some people were scared off by the price but if you go to a dealer like Yamaha Sports Plaza, I don't think they are much more than the other brands.

Ty...they would match well with the CF on your bike. :goodbad2:

I am sold on those!!! I've reached out to Sports plaza to get a shipping quote to Australia.
They are by far the cheapest I could find, but the automatic shipping calculator is quoting me $129 bucks
So I've asked them for a USPS Priority shipping which shouldn't be more than $45.
Haven't heard back from them. They seem to use AOL or some similar email service

Thanks Mark. Those are a clear choice for me!

Don't know if that's a Concern for you, but afaik, the Line Ends MUST be made out of Steel in Australia, which is, i believe, isn't the Case with these.

Not sure I am following what you are saying above squeeze?

Are you talking about the pictured banjo attachments?
They seem made out of some sort of metal in the photo.
I thought these were "plug and play" so to speak. No mods required.

Didn't realise there was a rule for Australia. Can you elaborate some more please?

By the way what are the big square ends on the front brake line kit for? Can't figure it out

I'm sorry, can find the right Word in english for them. Yes, i mean the Ends(probably called Fittings) in which the Banjo Bolts go. These MUST be made out of Steel in Australia, or you will have trouble with your Inspection Squad.

I know that, because i helped a Member of another Forum out getting a Thumb Brake Master from Spiegler, Germany. The Member knew about those, and Spiegler Germany knew also.

I really doubt those Russel-Lines from US are complying with this Rule. These will most likely made out of Aluminium like most are.

Of Course, that may be different for you or you don't even care at all. I thought, i mention it anyway, just to show my Knowledge :D :yeah:

Can't imagine anything about the square Blocks at the Moment.
