I've got 5 rear wheels now, and 2 fronts. I have put tape stripes on all of them !

If you take your time and do a good job it's hard to tell the difference !

Most importantly it's very inexpensive and easy to replace when it gets F#$478-$^ changing a tire !

Just an extra rear (ready to go--disc and all) for each bike !

OH NO !

You just made me realize-- I'm going to have to get a Back-up 240 now !

You know.....you can bend a front wheel very easily, or get something in the tire making it unusable....then what?

I have tape on mine and have never had a problem, however if you not clean the wheel thoroughly the tape can peel off. I used acetone to clean the wheel before applying the tape and mine has never peeled off, however my brother-in-law had striped on his and used just alcohol to clean the wheel and they never lasted 2 weeks.
So if you go with tape be sure to prep properly and you will have no problems.

I haven't seen any that are painted on except mine & I only did that because we were already painting the wheels. The tape/decal type are usually iridescent, giving them a glow at night and are much more visible.. There are several kits available on ebay..

I did the 1/8" red a while back, got them from Autozone good and cheap easy peasy. Unless maybe if you're showing your bike, Like Sparky said...go with the stickers. Piece of cardboard and 10-15 minutes per wheel.:cheer:

I'm not sure if you saw my bike at night, but it's impressive how bright they are at night. Capt Bob could probably chime in. As soon as light hits them at night, it's like they are plugged in!!!

Edit - Here's a pic. Just rolled the bike outside and popped a shot with the flash.
