TOPIC: Careful with your exhaust modifications

Tim was gracious enough to include individual cylinder tuning with his Flash know for a fact his version for a Akra/ Modified airbox works exceptional and should clear up those issues as well as drastically increase your throttle response with calibrated
throttle body openings at a better rate eliminating the "bog" Yamaha dialed in as a safety measure . |

So your saying, spend an ass load of money, take out your ECM, send it away, get the same ECM back, and all is perfect and my bike won't grenade in a hail of sparks and flame (Has ANYONE'S done that?)
ummmm... ok.... I'm a computer engineer and I'm having a hard time with all this... so he's saying the amount of money he's charging multiplied times the number of people that might grenade their bike (has that really happened yet?) this is a pretty lucrative endeavor.... hmmmm sorry, I guess I'm just a skeptic.... I really wanted to do this until I found out what the cost was... is there anyone in the Kansas City area that has had this done, maybe I can listen to theirs...? |

You can do it...or not. It doesn't really matter. How much cash did you fork out for your bike? Whats another few hundred bucks? lol BTW...you can grenade this bike WITHOUT any mods...oyu just gotta be a big enough idiot! Personally, I bought my bike with an Acro mid-pipe and cans...Powercommander and Auto-tune...I was having a couple issues the Commander couldn't fix...plus after putting the Acro exhaust on, I read about a guy here on the site, that burnt out an exhaust valve from a lean condition created by the pipes...the ECU mod fixed my problems. I also performed the Air Box mod with the K&N filter, and he calibrated for that as well. Again, oyu can do it, or not. Drive safe!

You can always save the "ass load of money" and reverse the ECU yourself. I am an EE and I specalize in firmware, but I am getting a little slow on the draw. It took me about two years to learn IDA Pro, reverse both RISC binaries, buy a dyno to develop and test the first beta versions and tune them. The one thing I did come out of this with was a strong appreciation for those who have done this before me. Might be a good exercise for you as well. |

I think mate, that a little back reading on threads before you put "pen to paper" is a very wise practice on any sites like this. ESPECIALLY this site. VMAXD |
