What's funny is that it seems to be the right side fork that starts leaking. I had a dealer ship do my forks. Have to have special tools to put forks back together.

Keith, weird the right side seems to be the one...
Rafter, has your seal leaked since? Mark, it sux very much but what r you gonna do? Tyler, I give credit where it is deserved!!! Gismo, I talked to the dealer yesterday and the mechanic looked at me funny when I told him I was goona do the forks with out the "special tools". I asked how much $$$ if I brought the forks in and I supplied the parts and oil...Labor only he said gonna be $150 for both. I didn't think twice... tole him, DO IT! No-One, Yes....gots to have the right tools!!! A couple of the parts (seals) are back-ordered 3-5 weeks..... |

I just purchased a 09 max a few weeks ago and after a couple of rides noticed the left fork seal was leaking badly. The bike had only 2500 miles so I was not a happy camper. It was leaking so bad it was running down the lower fork tube. After the initial fury wore off I thought I would try the seal saver...a very thin plastic tool used for cleaning out the seals on my dirt bikes forks...it is called a seal saver made by motionpro.com. I am happy to report that after a spirited ride today...lots of heavy braking and accelerating ....not a drop. So now I can begin my mods

Good for you, but you really should check the Oil Level in the Fork Legs and equal them out.
According to the Shop Manual, it should be at 104 mm with the Spring removed and the Fork Leg completely collapsed. |
