My Vance & Hines CS-1 isn’t a very good fit to the muffler on the right hand side of the Vmax that’s the side the o2 censer goes in I have taken photos and a video of the problem and sent them to Vance & Hines and all they are saying is the collector pipe must be out of shape and put it into a vise to get a more round shape and a better fit I think this will make it worse i don’t want to use a past sealant as this can look crap is there any sort of webbing i could put around the collector pipe to give an air tight fit that can take the heat Video is here

It's a shame that V&H won't do anything about that, but yours isn't the first we've heard about with a poor fit. If there is a muffler shop near you, I would take the midpipe to them and ask them to enlargen the exit pipe a bit. Normally they can stretch the inside diameter a bit to make for a tighter fit where it fits into the muffler. Also you could make a bracket to lengthen the clamp mount, to where it is a bit further up the muffler and closer to the end. That should also help with some of the looseness I see in the video..

I'd probably go No_Max's idea about taking the exiting pipe to a muffler shop to enlarge it slighty. In fact, I'd take the entire bike in so you could test fit the entire thing right there. If you wanted to tackle it yourself you could get something like this:
www.amazon.com/Danaher-Tool-KDS2071-Exha...id=1327707882&sr=1-5 Just irked that the company won't do anything for you. That's awful. Best lof luck getting it sorted out, and keep us posted. |

At approximately $1600.00 it better fit perfect for that price I would use No_Max's idea aswell just besure to get the proper size pipe expander for the job. Get one as close to the size of the pipe you can get, if you get one that is too small the fingers on the expander separate as it expands and will leave flats spots all around the pipe after you expand it. vmaxmercer |

I believe mine are like that too.(maybe not so bad) I may address mine this year too. I notice some leakage in that area. I'll seal it or remove spring clips and make slots and clamp it. Expanding it sounds good too.
I'm not a big fan of the springs. I already lost two. It also seemed like they welded one of the spring mounts backwards too. At least they still look good and sound great!! Mike D |

I dont have a V&H exhaust, but if you wrap the male pipe end with .015 or .030 thickness graphite tape gasketing that will compress when you slide the muffler on you will snug up the fit, self center and tolerate the heat. it is sticky back on one side and can wrap over itself multiple times. or having the pipe slightly reshaped for better fit is great, just be careful as those hydraulic pipe expanders can very easily over expand the pipe and end up too large. Or Just weld it on LOL, kidding.

Dale walker specs this stuff for his systems , My Brock system came with Permatex ultra copper it worked fine for me , The Vance and hines sysem leaks a little anyway I think Joe ended up getting regular motorcycle exhaust clamps to cure his leak. |
