TOPIC: Motor "lopes" @ idle when hot

Re: Motor "lopes" @ idle when hot 1 year 1 month ago #11

Unless i missed it in your posts, the one thing you havent done is synchronize the carbs. Needs to be done periodically, but definitely needs to be done upon disassembly of the carbs. Out of synch wiill cause loping idle and hurt overall performance.

I may have forgot to include that info but I sync'd them during reassembly and once more since then. They were out of sync when I did it the second time. I've never had carbs fall out of sync that fast.

I'm not completely clear on your Issue, but if i understand it right, you have a jumpy Idle, otherwise the Bike runs fine.

Those very very tiny Pilot Fuel Jets can clogg up fast, and no "Shotgun" will help you with that. Sometimes, even Sea Foam can't cure this because a clogged Passage inside the Jet won't let Sea Foam go through, thus, no work on the Residue.

Did you look at the TCI also ?

There's a so called "Boost-Sensor", which is nothing else than a MAP-Sensor which controls Spark Advance. If the Vacuum Line is glogged, possibily in that tiny plastic Restrictor Area, or the Line is detoriated and a Piece of Rubber glogges the Line at Idle every now and then, this will affect the Spark Advance, even at Idle RpM. You can find the Line and the Restrictor on Cyl. #2, which is left front Cylinder. You could quick check the Function of the MAP-Sensor by unplugging the Line at the #2 Manifold and putting a rubber Plug on the Nipple to seal it from outside Air. If the Motor runs on Idle while unplugging the Line, Idle Speed should drop off some.
