Ted, I replied to your PM. It looks like you got it handled. Ted did you offset the last friction plate? The other thing is (a little late for this suggestion but...) the ears on the plates usually have a bevel to them on one side. If that is present you are supposed face them all the same way, doesn't matter if it's facing in or out but they should be the same. I can't say that either one of those 2 suggestions would fix what you are describing....the clutch may just need to wear in a bit. If it gets worse or does not go away I would pull it apart again and follow the manuals instructions on measuring the thickness of the entire clutch pack. @ 1st I didn't off set it & I could feel the housing in there wobbling the bike, & after I put it in gear in the bike wanted to move on its own then died.. Man, was that a pain in the A$$ to push up the driveway.. BEAST is heavy.. Called & talked to Capt. & I think I got it figured it out after that I did shift it over one place to the dot marked on it..But with the ebc, there is really not any marks on it to go out.. everything on both sides is exact same way no difference.. kind of a pain in the A$$ & confusing a little, but I'm pretty sure that I have the correct... I may remove the DD to see how it reacts as well.. |

Got it and i think everything is good but the 1st gear..BUT Man, if you guys want A LOT of BITE on the clutch ?? This thing has come ALIVE again..Every gear pulls like no other now..I though was doing good b4, but now with a NEW matels and friction plates, this thing has come to life..
I had a sportie pass me this morning on the way into work..Well, if you know me,i'm not one to just watch..I passed him in a left hand sweeper @ around buck30..Man,i bet money he was like WTF!!! Bike pulls like a frighttrain now..Luv it!! I didn't realize how giving my old clutch was..Not anymore..Just wish i could get the 1st gear issue worked out..It did seem to get a lil' better this morning, but it's still there..I'll start working it in 1st @ slow speeds to see if i can work it out... Try the EBC friction plates..I don't think you will b disapointed.. |

Yep. The EBC's have more contact surface area than the stockers. I knew that you'd like them.

I couldn't be happier with my clutch. Both springs stay in place, easy lever pull, and good grab with the EBC's. Oh yeah and she's running like a champ.

Qtip I didn't notice any contact when I put my cover on I took it off the next day to resoak and oil everything too. (Maybe just wasn't looking hard enough. But my whole problem was me not oiling everything enough I pulled my first plate back out and 7 came with it( my first clutch job). I knew that's where I messed up. By the way this is how I'm keeping dd's together from now on, I ran a little bead on the inside of the springs. Hopefully it will stay .Been 1000 miles so far so good
