TOPIC: At a loss with 85 max not turning over

At a loss with 85 max not turning over 1 year 2 months ago #1

Hi everyone, I am so frustrated with my bike right now, as im not even sure what to do next, other than take it in, but have not had good luck with mechanics in the past.
So almost all my electrical has been replaced within the last year, and the bike was running good up until last week when it wouldnt start. The power came on, you could hear the fuel pump and the relay, but when you hit the start button, nothing.
I can jump it through the relay no problem and bought a new solenoid with no effect. All fuses are good, and the only thing I can think of would be the start button itself. But not sure what to try next. If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated, we dont get a lot of riding time in Canada, and im itching to get out.
Thanks in advance
Gord

Yep, Tim beat me to it, but that's likely the culprit. ;)

If not, replace the starter button unit..

Not a bad price..

Did you replace all the wires new?

I think clicking it into neutral will bypass part of it.

Yep. That's right. Then, if the sidestand switch IS bad, the bike'll die the moment you put it back into gear.

Sometimes, a shot of WD40 into the sidestand switch will get it working again, til replacement parts come in. Me thinks there's an internal spring that gums up with age and don't slide back out properly when the stand goes up.

Im with them side stand switch or starter button. I have these parts there used but in good shape & probably cheaper than ebay.
