Posted this under general discussion in error..
My 2006 Vmax has begun to spill battery acid out the vent tube. Sometimes just a drop or two; other times it looks like a tablespoon or more. I've parked it until this is resolved. The battery is 2 months old and shows 13v with the bike off and 14.2 v running at RPMs from 1500-4000 My first thought was the regulator but, I believe 14.2v is fine.... Any thoughts? |

Just a thought? My 2002 would leave a little spot after hard runs on the left side right around the left foot peg, it happen to be the radiator/coolant overflow though not battery acid. Are you sure it is battery? It would probably smell like rotten eggs if it is?

Really no smell but, the "stuff" is dripping from the battery vent pipe on the right side behind the tranny. I found several white spots on the garage floor where I park leading again to battery acid. I pulled the battery and the levels are spot on. I do see some acid damage on the right side exhaust.

Unless the Battery is internally damaged, you'll most likely up to replace the Regulator/Rectifier.
The Battery gets a alternating Portion Voltage into the DC, which would mean one or two Diodes inside the R/R are shot, or the DC Voltage Output is intermittently too high. This would mean the Regulator Part inside is faulty. |
