TOPIC: Making a gasket for the clutch reservoir

Making a gasket for the clutch reservoir 11 months 8 hours ago #1

Hi, Again

I live in the Republic of Panama and can't seem to find a clutch reservoir cap gasket. The only dealer downtown does not carry them. The reservoir cap has a slow leak. I know there is a square rubber gasket inside as I opened the brake reservoir but it seems glued to the cap. Either way, back to the clutch reservoir. I want to make a gasket to place around the inside perimeter of the reservoir. What type of gasket material is best for this application? Cork?

Thanks, Al

Im no gasket fabricator but if I had to improvise my best attempt would be tar paper for roofing

Brake fluid is easily contaminated so be careful with anything that can bleed when the fluid contacts it

Have made gaskets out of Cereal box before , but larger auto parts store should have a gasket making kit

normally there is no wear to the rubber gasket. just clean it with brake cleaner and thats it. i also had a small leak due to oxidated brake fluid on the rubber.
