From the information you give, I would say the battery is no good. I take it that you used a battery charger for 15 hours and not rode it that long trying to charge it up.

Ok my battery keeps dying mysteriously. Does anyone know how to test the alternator/stator?

If the battery is 4 or more years old, replace it first. When you see hoofprints, think horses, not zebras!

The battery is less than 3 weeks old and its been fine. The other day it started right up, I went like 2 miles and turned around to grab my wallet. When I went to start it again, the battery was dead again. This is what happened with the last battery.

Remove the seat. Put a volt meter across the battery. Start your bike. Idling speed, your meter should read at least 13.5v. Slowly rev the engine. Volts should quickly increase to around 14.5v. If not, the bike's charging system needs help. Most likely the voltage regulator/rectifier needs replaced. Or the problem might be a bad stator.

The stator wiring is the white wires in the multi-pin plug that attaches to the reg/recifier. To test stator output, you would need to unplug that connector and start the bike. Voltages coming from the stator, with motor running, should be around 50v AC (I think), as measured across either of the white wires to the frame. With the bike off, you would test those white wires against each other with the ohm meter portion of your tester, but right off hand this morning, I can't remember the ohm values that represent a GOOD stator. Someone else here may want to chime in with #'s.

you guys are great. Ok so I hooked up the multimeter while running, it says 11.7v at idle, while revving up to 5k rpms the meter barely goes up to 11.9v.
I checked the three white stator wires while having the engine off and the spec is believe is 0.43-0.48 ohms, mine says 0.5 ohms. So i dont know if thats good or bad??

Today i am going to try the crimping thing and see if that helps, if not I will try and solder the stator wires directly together.

Anyone have any other ideas??

There's a Crimp Connection inside the Wiring Loom near the Battery, which can corrode and take the charging Voltage down. Look at Vmax-Outlaw for the Write-up.

Other than this, it sounds to me like the R/R is shot. Overall Voltage is too low, necessary Raise of Voltage doesn't happen, yup, i'd take a deep look into the R/R. If you judge it to be replaced, go with a Shindengen FH 012. It's the best Unit on the Market.
