We purchased $20K motorcycles, and this is a real deal race header developed practically overnight with a fuel management system included, what were you expecting to pay? When I stil had my MV Agusta I priced full titanium exhausts.......the cheapest one I found was over $4,000 USD, a stainless system was about $2,000.....we have nothing to gripe about. I think Jon's prices are very reasonable. I would love a full exhaust system but can't afford one right now but hopefully will be able to get the cat eliminator. Just because I have a 20 thousand dollar VMAX doesn't mean I can go around dropping thousands on mods right away. Back in the day I could have but things are tightening up. I'm sure there are others in the same boat as I am. Its all good! +1 |

Preliminary numbers are in, even tho the bike isn't fully tuned yet, it appears the UFO fuel module and speedfix outperform the Yamaha race ECU by almost 10 horse, and 12ft lbs. of torque! There's more to come YET! The O2 sensor was overheating due to it's position in the header and a sniffer tube is being added to prevent this from happening above 6000RPM. Looks like Jon is on the right track with his fuel management system Looks like 200HP may be pretty realistic with a big air kit (modified airbox) 192.7HP vs 183.9HP & 118 vs 130 ft lbs. torque! UFO vs Yamaha Race ECU Notice the numbers with DragStarr exhaust vs stock exhaust in the Race ECU thread. Over 10 hp gain (just header) and 20 hp with fuel module addition! That's a lot of improvement. |

Great lets see one of the pipes polished with a different canister and cleaned up from the prototype ?
I need a real clean looking pipe that says wow! like the rest of the new bike the pipe needs to look new, I am glad we have UFO working hard on the new Max , ( I don`t think anyone needs to defend any products that sales its self) But For most Vmax guys looks need to play a great part I will get a new pipe and use it so it needs to work! and look awesome and have options .... Tell us more about the pipe and show us lots of pics and data with cool details of the system and options and tell us what it does and does not do, so people that see it for the first time understand we know unlike apples they do not grow on trees so no need to defend the price. Jon- There does appear to be slight differences in the Standard ECU and the Race ECU. Will this have any effect on the Max tuner we would need? or are the differences irrelevant?
I know everyone says it only removes limiters.. but I am pretty sure it idles differently, and the midrange felt different on the few short miles I used it. Just curious... |

First of all, thanks Jon. It's great to have choices.. and it sounds like they are well thought out ones. I am still waiting for the bike to be delivered, but as soon as I am ready, I plan on picking one of the choices you have laid out for us. I plan on showing the wife the CF goodies for the bike, then telling her that I'll just get an exhaust... that ought to price shock her into full agreement.
If there are any people that are still cringing from the price, it cost $1800 for Carbon Fiber SLIP ONS and chip for the 02 Ducati 998, and it didn't free up anything close to 20 HP. One question... If we opt for the Cat eliminator and tuner, and later upgrade to the full system, are there plans to reprogram the first controller to be compatible, or do we have to purchase the controller with the 4 into 1 (or 2)? Thanks. |

Jon, I am looking for the kat removal kit with a max tuner. I am also thinking of the race ecu as it seems to still help over all. Is it a waste of money? Do you think it will work better with the max tuner? When will you have the kat kit ready? Many are waiting and excited!
thanks vrodtom |

Very nice performance gain on that sysstem - the next 15 or 20 Hp will probably cost allot more - at least that has been my experience. What is the weight loss with the new exhaust system..... as they say - in drag racing weight is horse poser.

My comment was not a dis by any nature. I was curious for some details. Price seems legit to me. I am a capitalist. I think all the people working on upgrades for the vmax should be given a big thankyou. Blueta, UFo, Oliver, guru dude, yes bad_max too for keeping me sane with pics, mods and stories. This site has some great people on it and I am very thankful for all of you.. Now get back to work...lol.. were getting 4" of snow today..
