TOPIC: I want to take out the restricter plate BUT:

Re:I want to take out the restricter plate BUT: 4 years 6 days ago #11

Oliver,

I'm not following you with this...are you saying the stock filter gives us 3-4 more HP over K&N when utilizing the x-pipe and performing air box mod???

No. The stock filter w/o the restrictor, will do +4 rwhps better than the stock filter with the restrictor - when measured on a bike equipped with the x-pipe and no other changes.

Would someone be so kind to post a picture of the restrictor?
(for a non-technical person)

I went through the steps as postd by Oliver, however thatone explains how to remove the airfilter (and replac it by another one) Not sure in which step the restrictor is mentioned.
Can the bike be left like that, without the restrictor?
What's the goal of the restrictor anyway?

For some of you this is as clear as cristal, however, some of us need clear explanations and guidance (such as mself)

Many thanks in advance!

the restrictor can be removed and left that way.

it is pretty common to has restrictors/baffles in intake systems nowadays to reduce air intake noise to meet government standards.

Thanks for the reply! ;)

However, I hardly dare to ask,...
I saw the explanation on the link you reposted in this reply,.. the one with the 4 pictures... But like I said, not sure which one is showing the restrictor which we should get rid of

Ok, I asked for it, so now you all may call me a morron, but before you do; point out the restrictor please :)

So Oliver, the restrictors' only purpose is to reduce noise/sound only? It's not like 'restricting air intake'?
If it was restricting air-intake, and removed, it would mean that more air is flowing to the engine. Also meaning that more fuel is needed to compensate (probably corrected by the O2 sensor)
That's why I was asking the purpose of this restrictor.
I hope I'm not naggin now, just want to know it to analyze risks by mods I'm planning on.

Once the restrictor plate is out, this is what my bike looks like with Ken's Evo filter installed.

(above pic is how it looks with the airbox/faux tank cover removed)
