Hey Guys , Ive just installed the race ECU and now she wont start??
I already had the Big Air by FX and Top speed eliminator installed with Akrapovic exhaust system and power commander which was starting but running rich. I thought id fit this last bit and send it to be tuned on a dyno but she's got a bit of an issue starting. Please help VMAXR By the way she is spiting out some long flames while turning over trying to start her!!! |

May be connection is different than USA, like in Europe?
In this case we have the solution. Somebody have already install the ECU-R in Australia before??? you have done a lot of modifications. May be you have to test the ECU-R, without PC5. |

I think your right iceman.. Australian bike, U.S Race ECU. Yeah, Iceman is on to the problem...below is the difference in the ECU connector wire colors that are connected to the respective pins... Thanks to Iceman29 and Spanish Flyer for posting the fixes. And here's some info reported by various members on the ECU Part Numbers for different countries; 2S3-8591A-00-00 (USA) 2S3-8291A-30 (Europe - Austria, Czecho, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Switzerland) 2S3-8591A-30 Australia Since Australia was reported by some members as having the same PN as Europe, I would suspect that the ECU pin-outs are the problem...go to the link below and verify the color codes on your ECU connector to see which you have and then if it is the same as the France Model, you will need to do the re-pin procedure. Here's the European (France) connector in question with the USA connector. You can clearly see the differences in the color coded wires, which are marked with RED and GREEN felt tip marker. Here's the link to the thread posting from Iceman29 back in May2009. Click on the second procedure. The first one is to swap from 100HP to 200HP for France Model Gen-2 V-Maxes and is NOT the one that you want. www.starvmax.com/forum/12-general-vmax-d...imit-in-france#58923 Just take your time and recheck your work. Let us know how it goes. |

Hello Vmaxr
Like CVVMAX said you have to switch wires (8 of them) and it's a go, I did mine last week it,s a Canadian Vmax and it worked like a charm. good luck, if you need I have photo's of the connectors. Patrick |

I would think that you do since your ECU PN is supposedly is the same as the European models, as it was reported as being the same in the past...anyway...Iceman or Spanish Flyer or anyone else that has done this re-pinning, correct me if I am wrong, but the Immobilizer System does not work after installing and re-pinning the USA Race ECU on those models???...don't know if there are other things like "ER" on the Instrument Panel Display???... 2) The throttle becomes very responsive with the Race ECU as compared to the OEM ECU...take it easy until you get use to it and once you are comfortable, you may want to look into getting Evoluzione's throttle grip which was designed for that purpose... Let us know... Art |

The Australian Model has not necessarily the Immobilizer because the ECU# are the same. There the Receiver Part on the European Bikes which operates in Conjunction with the Transponder in the Key. If this receiver isn't there, the Keys are not "married" with the ECU and the Immobilizer Feature just isn't there. So, it doesn't mean the ECU's must be different. But i think it's safe to say, IF the Parts# are the same, the Connectors are the same too. Which means, to make the Race ECU works, he'll need to switch the Wires like S_F did. |
