TOPIC: Monster Big Air

Monster Big Air 1 year, 11 months ago #1

I have a question for those of you who have the monster big air and have road in the rain. Is there any problem with rain getting into the intake or are the filters protected enough? Judging from the pictures I have seen it would appear that rain can enter in from the sides. I'm only asking b/c where I live it can be sunny when I leave in the morning and pouring by the time I get out of work. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Tiny ! I don't have em'--YET ! However, If I got caught In The Rain, I don't see how it could be a problem ? UNLESS I PARKED IT IN THE RAIN ! Don't Sweat The Small Stuff ! Can't Wait Till I can Afford To Get Mine !, Mark

a little moisture won't get through the filters enough to hurt...If you're concerned your can look for rain socks sized for the K&N...I have a sock on my Harley's heavy breather.

We got into downpours in the desert several times in 2009. I mean like extreme large drops and hail, like an inch of rain an hour (at least that what it felt).

You could not tell. As it was said before if you really want to play it safe you can get the K&N rain socks too.

Hope this helps!

Don't take this the wrong way...not arguing...just providing options...and YES...99.99% of the air comes from underneath the filters and not thru the fake "ram air" scoops...

Nice - Thanks for posting the pics.

While I am not sure about the airflow, it will certainly add more protection and hide the Bg Air.

Oliver,
Maxi and I have done this mod that we call "Maxi-cvvmax Air Dam System"...lmao...and is works fine...we did this at first, not only to protect the K&N Filters from the elements but also in hopes of cutting down on the noise a bit...what we found was that, the system protects the filters extremely well and does not restrict the air flow at all since 90% of the air flow unlike what we originally were thinking that the air flow with the cut-outs that you see in the pictures would stream the air more down the scoops into the filter area...was WROMG!!!...90% of the air comes into the filters from the bottom area above the engine...

Why do we know this you ask...

Well, in hopes of cutting down on the noise some more, Mod-2 of this system was done by Maxi who did an air dam which had four holes cut into some sheeting in it and the K&N filters mounted afterwards...then the bottom sheet and top sheet were put together to foam an air box, if you will around the K&N filters with the scoop holes still there...

The PROBLEM???...the engine does not get enough air althogh the noise is almost the way that we wanted it...so it was back to the drawing board and Mod-3 will be out shortly...

We have applied for a "World-Wide Patent" on this "Maxi-cvvmax Air Dam System" and if anyone steals our idea, an ancient curse will be you for the rest of the time that you own your Gen-2...you have been warned....and we take no responsibility for the outcome...
