PCV Software 5 Months ago
Anybody had any software problems, I have downloaded software on my desktop and it works fine, I downloaded to my laptop and everytime I plug in the USB to PCV I get an error message that says windows has to close. Only difference is that I downloaded latest firmware using desktop, not laptop, shouldn't make any difference.

No problem here......just bought a little laptop last week and downloaded the DynoJet software. BUT I noticed that the Dynojet software that came with the package on CD was for Windows 98, and XP. So I bought a notebook/laptop that had the Windows XP instead of the new Windows 7.

Do the 2 PC's have the same operating system? If they do and the software loaded without any errors, then it sounds more like a hardware problem to me. A bad USB port or cable might make that happen.

Both have same operating system, I'm thinking it has something to do with latest Firmware, I downloaded it and Dyno-Jet says it's not needed for Vmax's. However there may be a communications problem, Old software trying ti interface with new firmware.

I'll keep trying.

Down load the data directly to a USB key and then move it to the laptop. OS will not matter then.

I agree with Mark. It sounds like a driver issue or a short. Have you tried another USB Port?

But what I am not understanding is, what difference would it make if you download the ZIP Archive new versions of the PCV Application from DynoJet is v1.0.3.2 and the new Firmware version is v0.1.4.0 onto a desktop or laptop and then move those files over to another PC???

If they are trying to install it on one computer and then doing a copy/paste of that PCV directory over to another PC, YES...then you would have a high chance of a problem, not only with the drivers or library files...

Basically I did the same as they did...I downloaded both files from DynoJet, installed the application onto that PC that I downloaded with and then copied the teo files over to my Laptop that I use in the garage with the PCV/Autotune and installed the application again there and once that was done, I updated the firmware from within the PCV Application...

While we are talking about these new versions...there is a slight "bug" where the AutoTune AFR/Trim tables do not show up when the application is opened up even though you have checked that check box to run up the AutoTune automatically on run up...just open and close the application 3-4 times and the problem goes away and the AFR/Trim table will be there...

Sounds like you have same set up I do, Desk top in Office, Laptop in shop, I think your right about open and close 3-4 times, seems like I don't get errors after that, however I still don't see trim or AFR reading, Dustin at Dynojet, says it's common and to try and reload firmware 2-3 times. Try again today. I had the same problem with Thundermax on another bike after downloading new firmware.

Is there a work around if all you have is Windows 7?? I hate to have to go out and buy a laptop just for this.

Put your mouse on the PCV Application icon (not the shortcut but the actual application - xxx.EXE), right click your mouse, go to properties, check the compatibility box and select Windows 98 and try to execute the program again.

I found one more bug the other day...when upgrading to the latest versions of the App and FW...

If you double-click on a MAP file directly rather than opening the PCV APP and then OPen Map, I get an Error Opening message saying that the Map file was made using Cylinder Advanced Fuel Map instead of the currently configured Gear Advanced Fuel Map, "Do you want to overwrite the Map?"...whether I select to overwrite or not, there is absolutely no change, both to the Maps or and the Error message...it still comes up each time...

Now, if you open the APP first and then open the Map File, then the error does not show up...

It doesn't seem to affect the operation at all so I am thinking that it is a programming error on the part of DynoJet on the new version(s) on how it reads the configuration settings...

I was talking to Tech Support yesterday about one HIGH Trim Cell and I should have asked them about it then, but forgot to...

On the one HIGH Trim Cell, they told me to alter that Cell and the adjacent cells to the left and right of that cell by adding or subtracting fuel in the Fuel Map Table and then clear the trims, go for a ride and see what happens...and keep doing that until I get good values..."Ok?!?!?!?", I said...

You have to love, "Easter Egg Electronics"...
