FX TOP SPEED WITH SWITCH/STOCK DIAGRAM 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Someone asked me how can we connect a double switch to FX TOPSPEED in order to have the bike normal wherever we want. However I don't have yet buy the FX topspeed but I drawn an easy diagram for him.So I thought that it could help many people so I post it.Please If someone has to fix or add something I would be happy to saw it.
For your information the SWITCH IS DPDT is Rocket Waterproof part# FRN91-23BB Honeywell (you can buy it from here www.mouser.com/ or choose among the 10000 electronic stores!!)

not quite sure if that will work... check out this thread

for some reason i think the speed signal needed a clean bypass loop... too long ago, though, so i cannot be certain...

let me know if it works ... your way eliminates an extra pole on the switch & still kills power to the chip so the LED goes out...

all i can say for sure is the 3PDT switch has worked fine for me the past 10 months or so...

PS. i do agree that u should make sure you're using a switched source for your 12VDC+ (to protect your battery from draining over time)

You're probably right because the Top Speed PCB would cause some impedance problems the way that the DPDT switch was...
...of course it would be nice to have a 3PDT as you drew out last year so that the +12VDC is not applied to the Top Speed PCB when it is not being used...

agreed... didn't like having constant power to an unused ckt (even if it WAS switched from the ign sw. )...

the 3rd pole used for the 12VDC+ (in addition to the clear heatshrink for the LED ) made it "idiot-proof" for me...

ie. no need to concern myself with knowing which position was "on"... if LED is glowing; then TopSpeed is active

check this page for available 3PDT switches from that website:

www.mouser.com/Electromechanical/Switche...s/_/N-5g2q? P=1z0z296

I don't see any illuminated ones ,though... that would be TRICK !!

try to avoid a "center-off" capable switch or you could accidentally activate the "french" mode with NO speedo display
( & limited to 100hp )

although this might be useful in the rain, as was stated earlier

Why would you want to switch back and forth? If you want to go fast, and then slow, why not adjust your wrist???

A loud V Max will save lives! Oh, and it sounds kewl too! Besides, if they can hear you, they will look, but not see with the speed of the machine. Life can be a blur!

TO ALL:
Thank you for helping to help other people! As for te 3PDT SWITCH is very difficult to find a WATERPROOF switch (don't ask why WATERPROOF I have bad memories with my old vmax) It's only one or two known companies at the momment which produce 4PDT Rocker (you can use Toggle but still is expensive) Style switch completely waterproof(at least IP65 specially if your cleaning the bike often) costs 30-40 $ (for god sake!) So as you can see in my diagram I use ONLY RED/BLUE from harness which is ALWAYS SWITCHED from the main harness of VMAX!So there is no problem with the power. When is off: the IN of signal is off and the power also is off the only thing which remains ON all the time is the Signal out of the TopSpeed which doesn't effect nothing if the power 12V is OFF.So in order to USE only ONE switch (ECONOMY 7 $) you will use a simple DPDT waterproof switch with my first diagram and you are DONE.

However those who doesn't want to use Waterproof switch YES you can buy a cheap 3PDT SWITCH (I SUGGEST AT LEAST TO BE IP58 which at least is Dust proof).

See ya!
