For those of you interested, the difference in weight from a stock rear wheel and tire and the wide wheel with the Conti Race Attack tire is exactly 3.25 lbs. Not much considering how much bigger it is. Normally big wheels (especially weld-up types) tend to be many pounds heavier.
That being said lifting that rear wheel and the rear dive unit and feeling their weight - I can't help but think how much lighter and what a monster this bike would be with a chain drive. (not that I want a chain drive...just saying)

By the way...the wheel and the tire required NO balance weights. Perfectly balanced as mounted. I also heard that from another owner who's tire mounting guy said he had never seen a wheel that ran so true.
Nice to know we're getting quality parts.

Mark:
Thank you for all the updates! I was surprised the wheel only weighs so little. If you take away the CAT you still are in the positive for weight loss.
I also smiled that you didn't have to add any weight to make the tire balance. You are too lucky.
Post a photo soon,,,,

Thanks for the information... that is really surprising that there is such little weight difference (although I have spent big $$ in the past to shave that much weight off of a sportbike wheel). Different animal here...
As far as the chain drive goes, I was originally a little let down that they decided to stick with the shaft drive. After feeling what a fantastic job they did at hiding the shaft jacking I have no complaints. (I'll leave the discussion about weight savings on the bike after I do my part and shed 30 pounds off of ME! ).

What is the weight of the wheel and tire with the Conti race attack? I am running a pirelli diablo and it weigh's in at 46lbs even(rim & tire) and I also did not need blance weight's on the rim.
