TOPIC: OEM license plate light connector question

Mike,
The license plate light is all tinned and covered in shrink tubing. Every thing has the ability to be unplugged/reversed, with the exception of that freakin' license plate light. Not like anyone would wanna put the mud shovel back on once rid of it,but why o' why did Yamaha need to pin that connector differently? Breathing in slowly......exhaling slowly. Thanks guys, Shaun |

Squeeze...thanks for posting the connectors last month! I ordered and got half a dozen of them.
okbrown...your not alone on the license plate deal. I of course needed the plug too before finding out about the available connectors. So snippers in hand I reluctantly cut the wires after the plug leading to the plate light figuring no one would ever want to put the mud flap back on. As an after thought I realized someone else may want the factory setup and headed down to my Yamaha dealership for a new sub harness. Was told I can't buy just that short wiring piece because it comes as a light assy. About $100.00. So I ordered it as a lesson to go with my gut feeling before cutting next time. I know it doesn't mean a hill of beans whether it spliced or replaced but if I sell the bike it might mean something to the new owner if they want to reinstall the mud flap. Ken |

Ken Ken, are you channeling me? My wife has me convinced that I should just toss the mud flap and signals out. Anyone diagree? |

okbrown...Qtip is right, never trash anything you take off, especially factory items! Someone may want or need them later!
At one dealership I checked on trading in my Gen 1 and they specifically asked if I had all the factory parts and they wanted them. I ended up not trading it anyhow since they wouldn't do an equal trade for the Gen 2! Ken |
