TOPIC: map for race ecu
map for race ecu 1 year, 6 months ago #1

Seems after putting in the race ecu there needs to be extra fuel added down around 2500 rpm to make up for the quicker throttle action race ecu gives.Has anyone done a map with accelerator pump settings at this rpm? I have cat removed, pcv, airbox mod,k&n filter

Are you talking about remapping the race ecu? That would require breaking into the ecu settings. I know several are trying but haven't heard of a success yet.
Think about it, if the ECU could be remapped there would be no need for the race ecu, as from a hardware standpoint, I think the race ecu and stock ecu are the same. With the mods you have listed, you probably need a PCV or similar with a dyno pull to map the entire RPM range. That's the usual prescription although the new Vmaxes are closed-loop injection systems and most other bikes are open loop (ie, no oxygen sensor). |

I already have PVC which has programming capabilities for accelerator pump. Need the settings for percentages and rpm if possible
and map I have now was dynoed with stock ECU @ 187hp |

But on my 2010, I installed the Race ECU right from the start along with the above mods and parts and I used the 2009 Map and as I mentioned, it runs great... Moving ahead, I am taking the 2010 in for a full dyno tomorrow, Wed 11 Aug, to see what it looks like before any tuning and then will have a new map made as it is tuned "better" for the bike with the Race ECU... PM me... Art |

Art,
Don't be surprized if you do better than 190---Remember is Red underneath ! YBLF |

YBLF MBLF, Yeah, those Red Pazzos definitely will add 2-3HP to the curve...see that, you could have had 200+HP all the time, if you had taken me up on my offer of trading Pazzos...too late now... Let me see if I have this right; Bike as is = 185HP Red Rim Stripes = 190HP Red VMax Emblems = 195HP Red Valve Stem Caps = 199HP Red Racing Socks = 204HP Is that correct???... That's ok...I'll stay with the 199HP...lmao... YBLF |

Did you make any accelerator pump adjustments to your map?
If you go wide open throttle at 2500 rpm in almost any gear with race ecu you'll suck more air than fuel because air is lighter than the fuel and the engine will stutter because it leans out the mixture. If you open throttle less agresively the response is good.Maybe your map has been tweeked enough not to do what I'm experiencing. For now I just keep the rpm up higher at 3500/4000 before I twist the wrist. |
