TOPIC: 240 Conti life

240 Conti life 1 year, 6 months ago #1

Guys quick question here:

I have about 2500 miles on my 240 Conti on my Max and it is ready to be replaced. Not a burnout type of guy but ride aggressive is this about right. (Well maybe a few little ones not more than 5 seconds or so.)

What do you guys think? 2500 miles good for this tire?

I think your few little ones have cost you dearly.
I think it also depends on the roads you ride on.
Conti 240 is a very soft compond/sticky tyre and Mr Max is certainly not taking it easy on her as it is. It certainly isn't meant for burnouts. But has some fantastic grip and it will certainly be my tyre of choice until something else comes along that is better.

My Conti is about 2000 miles and still has about 50% to go in the least.
I like to carve it up and am aggressive as well and any chance I have I do, but I never let it rip on this tyre. You are much better with a Bridgstone for that.

I got 7,500 miles on the stock Bridgestone tires. I've done my share of rolling burnout's and a couple of still burnout's too. I guess I was lucky.

I think the wear is due to aggressive riding the roads are usually back roads with some very porous surfaces. I love this tire it hooks up great. We also have had some warm weather which probably softens the tire even a little more. I accelerate hard and come out of the corners real hard and love the performance. The wear is in the center of the tire mostly and is about at 80% wear so they are doing the recall work so i will just have them change the tire as well.

The burn out or two i did are very insignificant.

Wasn't implying you were a hoon at all by the way.

The way I see it the tyre did its job. It gave you the confidence, grip, agression and overall satisfaction you wanted and most importantly kept you upright. All that comes at a cost of quicker wear and tear. There is nothing else I want out of my tires. My OEM tire gave me about 5500 miles. If the Conii can do 4000 I would be happy.

Mine will be toast before 2000 miles front attack included tread or lack there of is 80% gone now and yes that is complete use of the tread area not just burning out and ripping the center down. Will be done end of the month we are going to the drag strip in 3weeks

Thanks guys 2500 to 3500 miles is not unusual for the tire the way I have been riding it. Yes it has done its job very well. So the new one goes on and I am good for another 2500-3500.

I couldn't agree more.

The Tires are the only Thing between the Road, your Bike and your Body.

I got 4000 mls out of my BT 028 and I'm on a ME 880 in the rear right now. Changed the front at 5500 mls to a Road Attack2. Awesome Tire and it's an awesome Combination too. What more could i expect out of a Tire at 175 hp RWHP keeping me up in Rain or Shine ?

Squeeze you run the 240 conti race attack at 175 mph in the rain man you got BIGGER BALLS than I do! I like my tire but it dosent like the rain more than 70 mph and no serious cornering with it either in the wet!
