TOPIC: Need to touch up your engine or cases ?

Thanks for posting up the paint, Camatts1. If that works, it'll be a first for me. The Duplicolor Ceramic 1200 works great on coating the engine but haven't found anything in a can for headers and exhaust.

Yes that flame proof header paint works well but looks like a BBQ grill after painting totally flat black ,As posted eariler I got to the car barn and found the stuff
I used on the Jag's exhaust Manifold it's made by Bill Hirsch Automotive, "Exhaust and Manifold" paint the color we used is Cast Iron Gray and it withstands 1800 degrees and is a more of a satin or semi gloss but it works great when I get back home I will post some pics of finished product Sorry but I just cant stand Flat Black the Max deserves a little shine actually the Gray looks real good I bet an X Pipe would look nice in this color perhaps Bad max can post a link for me , I would paint mine but not Titanium it looks to cool changing colors, Like Mark at work all I have is a Vintage Tandy Computer Capt Hey Merry Christmas Everyone |

Using a clean micr-fiber cloth a light spray of WD-40 and some gentle wiping turns that flat blat into semi-gloss. Beleive me it works, the key is using a light spray of the WD and of course make sure the paint is thoroughly dry. You can the same thing with just the elbow grease but the WD-40 makes it easier. I attached a pic of my 09 with the exhaust painted with the flame proof paint and wiped down with the WD, and it was done weeks before I took the pic and did not change colour going back to flat! vmaxmercer |

Hey Art just remember prep is most important scuff it up a little with some sandpaper for a bite and
wipe it down with a solvent that leaves no residue I prefer Acetone as of now I know of no Primer suitable for that much heat so light coats almost fog it the more light coats the better with dry time between coats and when you are happy with the paint job pop it in the oven for 20 minutes at 300 degrees I know it'd gonna get plenty of heat from the engine the curing is for install it will help resist scratches and if you do scratch it in a visible area spray a little paint in the cap and use a small artist brush to touch up . Post some pics before you install it Art I want to see your work. And let me know how you like that paint. I am considering my Ti Akra mid pipe in that gray will see on that I still like the bluing. Better get to bed so Santa can find the way down the chimney . Capt |

Capt Capt, Thanks again for the help and tips...I will post pre-prep, post prep and finished product...will probably be in the new year...since I don't think I will get the paint in time to do it with all the family camping out at my place... For our european Members ....
I just had a Call with Dupli-Color here in Germany. I was hoping to get the US Number Capt Bob posted converted into a european Product, at least the Color Tone, since we don't need that high End Temperature Stability for our Motor Covers. They said that Europe and US are two different Firms and share nothing but the Name. So they really can't translate a US product Number into a european Product or Color Tone. Sad .... But i'll stay on that Matter ... |
