I have received requests to provide a DD clutch spring retainer for the Gen 1 Vmax. I ran this on my 1500 Gen 1 Tourmaster 1500 with great results. I have found one of my Gen 1 retainers and can copy it for the DD. They are different sizes as the Gen 1 uses a larger retainer. I need to get a volume order to keep the price reasonable. If you know of anyone interested please send them my way. Like to make 10 or more as I did for the Gen 2.
Thanks, rick rash |

Rick,
Got your retainer, well made. This is all on me, I have a Warrior and assumed the springs were the same, as I had heard the the clutch plates were. Unfortunately the diaphram spring on the warrior is larger diameter. What a disappointment, figured I would just have a local machine shop make me one. Unfortunately the ones I have found want two hrs. labor + material. That close to $200, which means there not really interested. Your lucky to have found a machine shop that's reasonable. I was just going to sell your retainer to someone else. Now I'm considering cutting your retainer to open it up to accept the larger spring. That would leave a gap, appox. 1" on the perimeter. The Warrior spring is close to 6" in diameter. I know this is not ideal but the springs should retain it. I also though about having your machinist make me one if he was up to it,but the lag time shipping back and forth and communicating the size would be a problem. I'm running nitrous and this for drag racing, other wise I probably would not need this mod, the barnett pressure plate and the stiffest springs are just not up to the task. Anyway after rambeling on with my problem, what is your opinion or others on this split retainer Idea. Thanks, Jim |

Great point, I looked up the part #'s and guess what. The warrior spring retainer is the same # as the 1998 Vmax 1200, 1FK-16335-00-00.
I can post on the warrior forum, although I don't think it'll get the response like the vmax as a stock warrior put out about 80hp although the torque is high, most use the barnett plate with the supplied springs and only go to red springs with mods. Maybe for the turbo and nitrous users. Thanks for the help you made my day. Let me know when you get the gen 1 retainers. Jim |

Do you want to return the retainer I sent you and I can send the gen 1 when I get them made?
I am going to try and combine a 10 piece run for both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 retainers. Kinda expensive investment, but I believe I can eventually sell all the Gen 1 retainers? rick rash |
