TOPIC: Brake line question

Brake line question 1 year 2 months ago #1

I had my brake and clutch lines replaced this past fall when the dealer did the oil pump recall work. When I went to pick up the bike the mechanic gave me the old lines back. He then pointed out that the connection of the rear brake line to the master cylinder was corroded. The corrosion was mostly outside, however it had began to creep into a few threads of the connection. He told me that it was because of the physical location of the MC that water spayed from a wet road would land on that connection. He told me that he cleaned-up the connection completely before the new install and covered the outside of the connector with a light grease. He gave me instructions to keep my eye on it and to try to make sure it was dry after washes and riding in the rain. There were no problems in the front or clutch.

Has anyone else that has changed their lines noticed anything similar?

I will watch this from now on, but do I really need to worry about this?

Thanks!
