I posted a few pics of Work in Progress of my Angel Eyes (Also referred to as Halo lights sometimes) in a number of threads. Now that I received the bottom set I though I'd post a thread of its own.
I got these lights from China (HK), but they are the superior quality (Not just SMD's on the board) They cost me about $80 delivered for the 4 halo's (2 sets) They appear good quality and meant to last 100,000 hrs. Draw very small power about 5.2watts I am running them of my fuse blocks on a small 1 AMP fuse (switched source) Lights come on when the bike comes on, but can be easily wired to a switch Personally, they turned out as I hoped. Very nice product. Install was very easy and if people are interested I will document it in this thread at a later stage Kris Here they are as they come in the package and wired to a 12v battery as a trial Here they are installed on the bike in broad daylight Here they are on the bike in the garage (garage door open) to simulate partial evening riding |

Again job well done. They look like they were installed from factory...I love them. Since we ride mostly during the day it will give that nice illumination. A fantastic project that has amplified Yamaha's design even more.

Just curious, are you using these as front directionals or just cosmetics? If not, could they be used as such?

Looks great Kris mine have not arrived yet but took some time this afternoon to flush mount my Photochromic halogens in the lower scoop section these bulbs are about 5-6 different colors but from about 20 feet out Cobalt blue I spent some time at a marine salvage yard and found some bezels from gauges and fit them to the bulbs I think they will look great with the Angel eyes i have these on a lighted toggle and the eyes will be on with the key so i can mix and match thanks again for the idea buddy. Oh as you know the camera grabs the light and intensified it they are more subdued With the eye. |

TD: they can be used as indicators if you can find the rings that are amber. There are plenty on eBay, however they are not the nice quality ones I was after. You can wire these to your indicator plugs itch ease, however they would blink white.
I have them as DLR's ( Daytime Running Lights), as you see thm on latest model European cars like BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc ... For me they are purely there to increase visibility on the road, and I also like the way they look. Those look good Bob. I think the bezels make it look more complete so long they don't distort the light. Might not see the halo's in he bottom hole if those are bright. Just something to consider. And I am not surprised you don't have yours yet. Mine took 3 weeks to get here and I live in the area so to speak. So they use real snail mail. My first sets got lost and they had to send me a replacements even though I paid for a shipping with a tracking service! I wasn't impressed with their service, but they did send me a replacement and the product itself is great I think. Hope they hold up! |

Thought about the Halogens overpowering the LED's but I have had these on my bike for 20 K + miles and i know they have saved my Bacon having a triangle of bright light really attracts attention the 6 Kelvin Intensifier will prob take front seat to
all lights though but will be seen , I had to ride home one night with them when my experimental ballest went south they got it done one cool part is they light up road signs bright blue off the reflective surface and on the Causeways people must think I am a Cop they slow down and sometimes change lanes to let me by but never had a problem with the law guess there are so many cars out now with blue bulbs it would be hard to enforce plus they point downward anyway. Looks like i will have some options. |
