Re: VMAX Headlight Projector Retrofit 11 months 2 weeks ago #101

Here is a photo of how I mounted my balast and the 2 relays just for you Phil.
I had no issues getting the scoop on or off the way I have it

Heres mine,

You can see i ran the wires a little different route under the frame and back thru the frame slot after extending two of them and i used some padding left over from my Shori battery and snugged the ballast with a bolt. The wires all fit in the notch in the bottom of the scoop and are hidden. It should work ok i hope, the ballast wire is just long enough this way but the other two were not. I haven't zipped up any of the wires yet but will get to it once my bulb gets here.

Heres the light just sitting there not bolted up waiting for a new bulb lol

Thank for posting Phil.
I can see now why the wires are not long enough for you Phil. You went from under the scoop.
I did it from the top between the air box and the frame and then through the hole in the neck.
But I still agree they need to be longer on any bike really

Soon she will be back together, hang in there, but I hate when projects don't go to plan either

Just focus on your other beast behind you. She is a BEAUT mate!! You live some life in the fast lane Phil.
Awesome!

Dannie, just go back and read his thread in the first few pages. I give you the details of what to order and where to order it from.
Not sure about the easy kit and it's fit. I can only speak about the one I got from the retrofirsource.
Just email those guys and they will set you up

Re: VMAX Headlight Projector Retrofit 10 months 2 weeks ago #110

After doing this project on my max i really had an itch to do this on my truck as it sees lots of Alaska's dark ass winters. Dealing with Matt at TRS he said to go with big projectors so i went with there FX-R III with Panamera shrouds and amber led eyes. Working with these big lights and big projectors that are glued in (no plug n play here) and Ford's permaseal took a lot of work. I have about 30 hours in this set of lights from start to finish and used Osram SVS bulbs (best and brightest i guess) and it turned out ok, very bright.
