Tonight I had some time and I though I'd test a couple of things that were previously worrying me. :hmmm:

1. That I mounted the projector the right way (meaning The high beam should be pointing up and not down)
2. High beam solenoid functioning correctly when powered (flipping down to allow more light to come through for high beam)
3. That the beam is projecting horizontally and not at a diagonal or some weird angle
4. That the bulb I received with the kit and the balast actually work

1. As it turns out I did this the right way :puhh: Nothing but beginners luck. I suggest you guys check this and don't risk it like I did and leave it to check for this after the lens is baked closed. As the rule of thumb the solenoid (and subsequently cutoff shield) should be on the bottom of the unit.

2. By connecting the solenoid wires to positive and negative battery terminals you can test the solenoid opening the flip plate. You should at very least head a clicking sound when powered up. Another check

3. This is very important step as it can't be done on the bike itself. The reflector adjustments allow you to adjust the beam left and right and also up and down. There is no adjustment for the beam being crocked or diagonal so you need to make sure you adjust the beam to be as straight as possible. This is something CaptBob was telling me about a few pages back. This is done by finding a flat surface in your garage or house and powering the bulb and checking the beam alignment on a white wall or surface for both low and high beam.

You do this by adjusting the H4 adjuster plate to be aligned to the factory reflector. If you picture the back of a H4 bulb with three connectors the bulb can only go in one way due to H4 guides in the factory housing. Now that you have a HID and a reflector you have do this alignment yourself and then set it into place with some epoxy. See pic of the H4 guide below

4. This is self explanatory really. Another check

Tomorrow I will be mounting the headlight back on the bike and I will take some photos of the finished project

What's your personal thoughts so far Kris on the volume of light?

I know the real test will be the road test...

Huge difference Chris. To me the difference is night and day. The beam seems at least 50% brighter. This could be just the effect as the beam is now focused and projected as opposed to just being reflected. This is based on my wall test of course.

I should have done this a lot sooner, but the fear of baking the headlight got the best of me to be perfectly honest.
Looking back now, it would probable take me 3/4 of the time as with all things and I would be a lot less worried about the outcome

Also if not blackening out components inside he headlight, it would be a lot quicker.

And here is the end result lads.

Works great and the beam is perfectly aligned. I kept the reflector as it was in the housing to keep the original point of reference (up/down and left to right) as much as I can and it worked well. it just meant that I had to make sure that the beam isn't diagonal.

The new harness fro retrofitsource while still bulky is specifically designed for a bike and it works great
Flasher as well as high/low beam works as it should

Its very bright. The last check I will do is get my brother next to me with his stock headlight and my projector to check the beam height once again (that's the beauty of having two in the family).

Looks great Kris.. I saw Capt. Bob's when he first did his and the light coming from down the street was amazing! HUGE difference from stock. He literally lit my street up to the end.. THEN he flipped on the Hi Beam!

Thanks Bob. Yes I remember the photos you posted when he visited one day.
There was a low beam and a high beam shot from memory.
It took me a while to build up to it as the information I found here was little patchy.
Hopefully I captured some more "know how" that will make it easier for the other brave hearts that attempt this mod

But in all honesty once you get past the baking part (which like a few said can be little nerve wrecking) its not all that bad.
Just have to be patient and pay attention to a few details and the results can be great
In this mod, attention to detail is a must.
