TOPIC: Magical Racing Install on ol' Red

Already done it... ;)
But why do you still have the CAT? :)
I fabed a trush sytem that bolts to the exhaust hanger on the left side and stiffins the whole assembly. MUCHO better

Mistake, my quick scan of your pic had me thinking those were Akrapovic slip-ons. Yea, you would of had to fab something different. I have the V&H system with my own hangers for the cowl, bike looks complete with it on, your bike is looking Gooood!

You can make anything work Bob, but "just because you can doesn't mean you should" is my thinking on some mods.
While I think it looks good on the Max it isn't very practical for following reasons:

1. It does scrape and you don't have to work it real hard to do that either
2. you have to take it off when servicing the bike
3. On my Akro system it melted the pan on one corner and I had to trim it away
4. Attachement is made for the Cat box and not the swing arm that is under constant vibration and movement so the belly pan will get fatigued over time and loosen your bolts
5. It looks very silly and like it doesn't belong out the back with no Cat box. It looks like something is missing which is why some are extending it and doing more fibreglass work

The main problem for most people that got rid of the cat is how to attach it properly and safely in the back
I to fabricated brackets like Darryl and it worked fine but it wasn't to the level I was happy with to say that it was properly done
There are no anchor points in the back for that pan once you remove the cat

Haven't tried fitting it with my Brock's as its a single sided pipe and looks silly on the side with no pipe
I just don't think it would look good on the 4-1.

just my 2c.

PS: I would like to say for the record that if it wasn't for that belly pan, I might not be alive today (speculating)
I fitted the oil pressure gauge before a trip last year and I didn't notice that I had a small leak between the block and the gasket and if it weren't for that belly pan catching all the oil, that oil might have gotten on my rear tire and who knows where I would be today

SO I LOVE IT JUST FOR THAT FACT!

1. It does scrape and you don't have to work it real hard to do that either--(I have to be giving it hell to make it scrape. I'm talking almost knee to the ground. Or a hump in the crest and I'm lowered 2")
2. you have to take it off when servicing the bike
(it takes tow minutes to take it off. 4 screws)
3. On my Akro system it melted the pan on one corner and I had to trim it away----(never melted on my CS1's)
4. Attachement is made for the Cat box and not the swing arm that is under constant vibration and movement so the belly pan will get fatigued over time and loosen your bolts
(only a bafoon would attach it to the swing arm. I went with longer bolts on the CS1 attachment points)
5. It looks very silly and like it doesn't belong out the back with no Cat box. It looks like something is missing which is why some are extending it and doing more fibreglass work
(You are correct, it has needed modding on all aftermarket exhaust I've seen them on.)

The main problem for most people that got rid of the cat is how to attach it properly and safely in the back
I to fabricated brackets like Darryl and it worked fine but it wasn't to the level I was happy with to say that it was properly done----( Uh...okay)
There are no anchor points in the back for that pan once you remove the cat
(There are very good anchor points. One of my brackets are about 3" long but it's as sturdy as if it was factory fabbed that way)

Haven't tried fitting it with my Brock's as its a single sided pipe and looks silly on the side with no pipe
I just don't think it would look good on the 4-1.
(I, for one, thought it might look ok with the brocks but I'm still unsure. This would also necessitate modding)
(You forgot to add that, for the price they could have used a little more FG)
To sum it up. I disagree with most of what you said but we all have an opinion. :lolipop:

Thanks guys,
I forgot to mention, I painted the fairing with the texture spray bombs and Satin clear like I used on the tach and mirrors, it really matches the texture and finish of the frame very well, looks stock. That is always what I am after, something that looks like Momma Yamaha would do herself.

What is a "Texture spray bomb"?

Rattle can Texture paint made by Rust oleum , Pretty much of a match to the Yamaha frame paint and durable
it has held up for a couple years on my former silver color backrest stays and quite a few other parts
quick touch up on the pan if you get "battle scars"

I am not about to get into a pissing contest with you.

Maybe you just like to go straight which is why you lowered her in the first place, maybe you ride like a sissy
Maybe you like to call Brett a bafoon as he mounted it to the swing arm, or maybe you are just having a bad day.
Either way I was give Bob a reply. like you said opinions are like assholes

Take it easy sugar britches, no pissing contest. I softened my response up just for you. Riding like a sissy is another opinion. Everry day is a good day to me. Brett is my bud, I know he's not a bafoon. Your response puts your level of bafoonery in question. I never said opinions are like assholes. I just said we all have an opinions. It's all good. :steam:

Just called the "textured" in Black #7220 it's the stuff i painted a lot of gas tanks with it .

Remember I am the guy with the bike a Monkey could run a 9 sec run on not a Baffoon a Monkey now get it right .
We's all bestest of buddies I would Say Brett on Red can smoke Big D or myself in the turns scraping or not
But at the Strip this here Baffoon can run away from both of em .

Bob, don't know how you got in that exchange but just like Brett said. The win go's to the guy who spends the most money. To date, you have spent the most. Yes, you can outrun us, no doubt. 30 lbs lighter, big air, brocks and coils. That makes all the difference in the world.
