TOPIC: stock exhaust, can they get louder

stock exhaust, can they get louder 11 months 3 weeks ago #1

I very much like the look of the stock exhaust. I have seen pictures of various after market exhaust but can't quite picture them on my MAX.

Looking for suggestion to somehow make the stock exhaust louder. Thanks. Ebi

Loose the cat and get a mid pipe. (Optimal Carbone or Akrapovic)

This is great option but would not get too loud, or environmentally too unfriendly?

The max has a great fuel system and is very "tuned" so not an Emission worry the stock cans with a free flowing midpipe
are louder and a little boomy but do sound good Brett ran his with the Akra mid pipe for many thousands of miles like that
and it did sound good so if you want to keep the look that would be a good option , The stock can will get louder with miles the
unrestricted mid pipe will clean them out so to speak being it has 2 smaller outlets it will not sound like a good 2.25 in free flowing aftermarket exhaust with a real deep rumble but still very respectable and the nice thing is you can change to aftermarket cans easily if you already have the mid pipe if you so desire.

Depends on how much louder you want it to be, I simply disconnected the cable going to the muffler allowing the valve to spring to the full open position. This was plenty loud enough for me and does not require any fuel controllers etc
Many have done this simple mod
